Fund smart contract deployment

The treasury now holds enough funds to cover smart contract deployments by Andre since the beginning of 2020 and two weeks forward till the end of August 2020.

This proposal is based on the on-chain data and tries to keep the budget tight only covering the gas costs.

You can verify the results in BigQuery.

select extract(week from date(block_timestamp)), sum(gas_price * receipt_gas_used / 1e18)
from `bigquery-public-data.crypto_ethereum.transactions`
where date(block_timestamp) > "2020-01-01"
and from_address = '0x2d407ddb06311396fe14d4b49da5f0471447d45c'
group by rollup(extract(week from date(block_timestamp)))
order by min(block_timestamp)

Total spent = 179.34 ETH
Spent on week 32 = 57 ETH
Grant amount = 179.34 + 57 * 2 = 293.34 ETH

Yes x100. Let’s reimburse Andre at the very least. Any thoughts on rewarding him as the strategy creator? Thanks for the legwork in figuring out the costs, banteg.

Please raise this proposal - it is a no brainer. Let’s refund the main and keep Yearn as safe as possible.

I suggest paying Andre for his effort, expenses and idea than creating proposals for each item… Isn’t the holders/community has responsibility to take care of Andre.

We should all be for it. It’s the least we can do.

Make it a YIP. It’s a must.

This must done. Now!

It is impossible not to vote “aye” on this proposal. Considering that Andre works for free, we must at least cover the costs of the gas burned!!!

Raise it. :cherries:

Forgive my ignorance, only in YFI for a day. I thought the treasury was specifically set up to cover GAS anyway? So I figured this would be a foregone conclusion?

Sounds like a YES to me.

Please raise the YIP and let’s get voting underway asap. Then we can move onto what the protocol needs next. Supported.

Absolutely! Great idea. The community is benefiting from these smart contracts, it makes sense that it should come as a deduction from our profits.

If we are going to have a YIP for this we should probably add how payments will be concluded in the future also. Are these payments happening once a month, every six months or how? These costs are very easy to verify, so we should probably already stream line the payment method and frequency.

The YIP for this was YIP 36. I think that transparent, justified and tight budget should work better for now than passing every expense through a new YIP. For example, we are trying to get some auditors on board at the moment, such things don’t happen on a forum. So my preference would be rough consensus for budgeting. But overall budgeting needs more thought, so feel free to open a discussion.

Agree with banteg better estimate a budget and allocate funds to it than make a proposal for every expense. This way the funds are also there before they are spent and nobody has to pay for anything out of their own pocket and hope for a later reimbursement.

(But yes, costs incurred by Andre should be covered ASAP)
